Quite frankly it can be somewhat overwhelming, and with so much to do before the big day it’s easy to forget about yourself, until you realise the office party is looming, or a drinks do at your friend’s house is just a couple of days away, and you’ve no idea what to wear.
This is where I can help. Rather than have you waste precious time looking online for an outfit, or dashing to the shops in the hope you’ll chance upon something that you like and is available in your size, I’ve done the hard work for you and picked seven gorgeous items that are perfect for the festive season.
They can be ordered easily and quickly online, and all the outfits I’ve featured are from stores that make it easy to return items if they’re not quite right. Ensure you make use of the size guides provided by each store, because a dress or jacket that’s a 14 in one shop could be a 12 or a 16 in another!
Zara Red Velvet Jacket
What could be more Christmassy than red velvet, and this stunning jacket is from Zara for £99.99
It comes with matching trousers so it can be worn as a suit for real impact, or team it with black jeans for a relaxed look, or, for party razzle dazzle a black sequin skirt from Pure.
Next Lace Dress
If you’re anything like me you probably prefer to wear a dress with sleeves, so this lace dress from Next ticks the box perfectly. It’s also a flattering length that finishes just below the knee. Wear it with elegant kitten heels, or heeled suede boots, and throw over a black leather jacket.
M&S Metallic Jacket
A long line jacket is a great style if you are tall, and this fabulous metallic jacket from M&S is perfect for the festive season. Wear it with black velvet trousers from Boden or jeans for a more informal look.
H&M Off The Shoulder Jumper
I love this jumper from H&M, and at £19.99 it’s a baragin. Team it with slim or boot cut trousers or a pencil skirt it will make a great Christmas Day outfit. It’s available in red, light grey, dark grey marl, pale blue, and soft pink online, although I’ve also seen it in the store in black and cream.
Simply Be Party Top
This lovely long tunic top in blush pink with sequin embellishment from Simply Be is perfect for Christmas drinks, or the big day itself. The sleeves are a flattering elbow length, with a gentle flair, which is always a flattering look. Where it with black or navy velvet trousers and heels.
Boden Velvet Pencil skirt
This Boden skirt is available in navy, black and red, and because the fabric contains 3% elastane it means it’s extremely comfortable to wear. Team it with a sequin top for a fab party outfit or with a cashmere sweater and knee length boots for Christmas day.
New Look Kimono Jacket
If money is tight but you’d love a new outfit for the festive season the devore velvet kimono from New Look is a bargain at £16.49. It would look fab over black jeans, worn with a simple red or black scoop neck top and a bold pendant or necklace, or to dress it up and wear it with black or deep red velvet trousers…fab!
Which of the items featured do you like best? For me it’s the off the shoulder jumper.
I’ve bought the cream version which I’ll be teaming with brown velvet bootcut trousers and leopard print boots for Christmas day. How about you?
